Inclined Planes - Ramps
An inclined plane or ramp is a simple machine that is slanted and helps move objects from a lower level to a higher level. Examples of ramps are:
Stairs help people move objects from one level to another. It is hard to move heavy objects straight up off the ground.
Slides are inclined planes because they are slanted and help kids get from one level to another.
People in wheelchairs or those pushing baby strollers use ramps to easily get from the ground level to a sidewalk level.
Boat ramps help lift boats out of the water.
